Jesse James rides into bike show

Posted by speedman on Friday, May 16, 2008 (11:46:59) (10 reads)

Canada - Custom motorcycles are big business and some popular bike builders have reached celebrity status.

Thanks to the popularity of television shows, such as Biker Build Off, that document the builders and their machines, names such as Matt Hotch, Roland Sands and Billy Lane have become well known.

And custom bike events are also common. Shows such as Myrtle Beach and Daytona Bike Week allow fans a chance to glimpse favourite builders and their new bikes up close and in the flesh. These events also give the public an opportunity to immerse themselves in what has simply morphed into a lifestyle.

But that's all south of the border.

Alberta bike promoter Tiffany Starchuk, 24, is set to rectify the situation in Western Canada, and she's got some help from one of the biggest names in the industry.

From May 17 to 19 she's bringing the King of Customs Motorcycle Show (www.kingofcustoms.ca) to the Roundup Centre in Calgary, and Jesse James and his West Coast Choppers brand will be there all weekend.
